Simple habits that help keep your roof in great condition
Your roof doesn’t need constant attention, but giving it a little care throughout the year can make a big difference. At Ikonic Roofing, we always say that small, seasonal checks often prevent the big surprises.
Here’s how the seasons can give you helpful reminders.
Spring: Check for winter damage
Winter winds and rain can leave tiles a little worse for wear. Spring is the perfect time to step outside, look up and make sure everything is still in place. Pay attention to any slipped tiles, lifted areas or signs that water has been overflowing the gutters.
Summer: Keep an eye on moss and debris
Longer days and calmer weather make it easier to see what’s going on up there. Summer is a good time to check for moss build-up or leaves that might be gathering in gutters or roof valleys.
Autumn: Prepare for heavier weather
This is when we see the biggest increase in gutter-related issues. Leaves fall, debris builds up, and suddenly rainfall has nowhere to go. If you notice gutters overflowing or sagging, it’s worth having it checked before the winter storms arrive.
Winter: Watch for signs of moisture indoors
Colder months can reveal subtle signs that the roof isn’t performing perfectly. Damp corners, occasional drips, or marks on ceilings often become more noticeable in winter, so keep an eye out for anything unusual.
When you need a hand, we’re here
Not every issue can be spotted from the ground, and not everyone feels confident checking their roof — which is completely understandable. If something doesn’t look right, or you’d like a more thorough inspection, we’re always happy to help.
